and procedures
From 1 April 2025, we have operated under the trading name of ‘Enterprise Oxfordshire’, with the change marking the completion of a two-year process that saw the economic development functions – previously led by Local Enterprise Partnerships (OxLEP in our case) – altered so that they were to be overseen via a mechanism agreed by respective upper-tier local authorities, in this instance, Oxfordshire County Council.
Throughout this transition process we have reviewed our priorities to ensure we are closely aligned to the strategic priorities of the local authority, through our extensive reach into Oxfordshire’s business community – which is greater than the memberships of Oxfordshire’s business representative organisations combined.
We recognise and value the importance of partnership and building trusted relationships in the work we do. Our commitment to partnership working was reflected in the membership of our previous Board of directors, thematic sub-groups and in our collaborative operational programmes.
With our partners across Oxfordshire, we continue to operate a ‘whole system’ approach bringing together public, private, academic and third sector organisations to support our businesses and communities, seeking out opportunities to innovate, collaborate, improve productivity and reduce duplication, thus delivering enhanced impact and value to the public purse.
We aim to be at the forefront of conversations that matter to our businesses and communities, to implement new activities that reflect our role post transition and that support our local democratic institutions to deliver against collective priorities.
Through our governance arrangements, policies and protocols – supported by our Board – we maintain the highest standards of standards committed to making a positive impact across the county and beyond.
Our commitment to governance ensures that we remain focused on delivering results that make a real difference in the community we serve.
Following a review of Local Enterprise Partnership governance and transparency, led by Mary Ney, our then Nominations and Personnel Committee agreed to adopt that recommended Code of Conduct.
This decision was made after thorough discussions during our Board cycle period between December 2017 and March 2018. All Board Directors and the Corporate Management Team were informed about and approved a set of Code of Conduct requirements.
This governance and transparency process has been followed ever since, though continues to be reviewed as part of our shareholder relationship with Oxfordshire County Council.
Regarding our executive team, all staff members are required to sign-up to our staff handbook upon appointment. This handbook includes our code of conduct and adherence to the Nolan Principles.
By doing so, we ensure a professional and ethical work environment.
