Once accepted onto the programme, we will work with you to:
- Understand what kind of work you are looking for.
- Find suitable jobs and opportunities.
- Write a great CV and apply for jobs.
- Prepare you for interviews.
- Talk you through what you need to think about financially when starting work.
If you do get a job, we will still be on hand to:
- Help you understand your new role.
- Offer you and your employer support with any specific needs you may have.
- Quickly respond to any issues or worries you may have as you settle in.
You will get up to 12 months support (if unemployed) and four months (if in employment).
Eligibility:
Like many other employment programmes, there are some eligibility criteria for Connect to Work participants.
Connect to Work supports people who:
- Are disabled, or are one of a number of specified disadvantaged groups (listed below) identified by the Connect to Work programme.
- Are disabled, as per section six of the Equality Act 2010 or the Social Model of Disability.
- Meet the definition of one of the specified disadvantaged groups identified by Connect to Work, with additional multiple and complex barriers.
The specified disadvantaged groups supported by Connect to Work include:
- Carers.
- Domestic abuse victims.
- Drug or alcohol dependent people, whose condition is presenting a barrier to work.
- Former armed forces members.
- Homeless people.
- Modern slavery victims.
- Offenders or ex-offenders.
- Refugees.
- Young people involved in serious violence.
